Denise Gassmann completed her law studies at the University of Friborg / Freiburg (i.Üe) in 2006 with a master (MLaw). She obtained the Bernese bar exam in 2009 and received the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in MedLaw from the University of Zurich in 2016.
After completing her studies, Denise Gassmann worked as a lawyer in succession at a government governor’s office in the canton of Berne, at the tax appeals commission of the canton of Berne, at the higher court of the canton of Berne and in a law firm in the city of Bern. After gaining her bar license, she was an assistant to Prof. Pierre Tschannen’s chair for constitutional and administrative law at the University of Bern.
In 2012 Denise Gassmann moved to the Legal Department of the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). There she devoted herself until the end of 2013 to legislation in food law and the interface problem between food and pharmaceuticals and from 2014 to 2019 completely to legislation in the area of medicinal products. During her seven years at the BAG, Denise Gassmann worked intensively on legal issues in the areas of dispensing, application and prescription of medicines, drug advertising, medical device law and data protection law related to medicinal products. She was also able to further deepen her knowledge of constitutional and administrative law.
