Michael Krebs, Attorney-at-law

Michael Krebs graduated from the University of Bern in 2008 with a Master of Law (MLaw) and was admitted to the bar of the Canton of Bern in 2012.

During his studies, Michael Krebs completed an internship at the legal department of UBS AG in Zurich, where he focused on IT law. Immediately after graduating, he worked as a trainee at the Regional Court of Bern- Mittelland (civil and criminal division), then at a Bernese commercial law firm and finally at the Administrative Court of the Canton of Bern.

After being admitted to the bar, Michael Krebs worked for several years as a research assistant at the Chair of Public Law of Prof. Dr. iur. Bernhard Rütsche at the University of Lucerne, where he was able to deepen his knowledge of administrative law and the administration of administrative justice and intensively dealt with the law on therapeutic products. During his time at the chair of Prof. Bernhard Rütsche, Michael Krebs was also a lecturer for general administrative law and administrative law administration at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lucerne and at the Foundation for Legal Education Lucerne.

In 2016, Michael Krebs was commissioned by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) to develop a legislative strategy for the upcoming revision of Swiss medical device law. In 2017, he moved to the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products “Swissmedic”, where he was employed specifically for the implementation of the revision of Swiss medical device law. His work focused in particular on drafting the new provisions of the Therapeutic Products Act, the new Medical Devices Ordinance and the MRA, as well as the associated messages and explanatory reports. In addition, he represented Swissmedic as an expert on medical device law in the expert committee for medical device regulation “Competent Authorities for Medical Devices (CAMD)” in Brussels, which was set up by the EU Commission and the market surveillance authorities of the EU Member States.

Shortly before Michael Krebs started working as a lawyer at Pharmalex GmbH, he worked as legal counsel for a medical device manufacturer in Lucerne.
